Our specialized cable laying vessels fleet, including our state of the art Prysmian Leonardo da Vinci and Prysmian Monna Lisa, ensures reliable and efficient offshore operation all around the globe, reaching installation at depths of over 3,000 meters and in the most complex marine environments.
Prysmian’s can rely also on a global and integrated factories footprint, which produces state-of-the-art extruded and mass-impregnated HVDC cables. Each facility is optimized to meet the highest quality and safety standards required for critical infrastructure. Prysmian owns and operate also several HVDC testing facilities, dedicated to the development and qualification of new technologies.
525kV cable technology, a step further
Prysmian has developed the world’s most advanced 525kV extruded HVDC cable system, setting a new benchmark for high-capacity, long-distance electricity transmission with unmatched performance:

capable of transmitting up to 2GW of power per link;

qualified with two different insulation materials, P-Laser and XLPE.

NKT: Powering the future with high-voltage expertise
NKT connects a greener world with high-quality power cable technology and takes centre stage as the world moves towards green energy. NKT designs, manufactures and installs low-, medium- and high-voltage power cable solutions enabling transmission of renewable energy. Since 1891, NKT has innovated the power cable technology building the infrastructure for the first light bulbs to the megawatts created by renewable energy today.
NKT cables are engineered to meet the most demanding performance standards, ensuring reliable energy transmission across vast distances and challenging environments.
NKT is currently building the world’s largest high-voltage offshore cable factory. HVDC and HVAC cable systems are essential for connecting offshore wind farms to mainland grids, supporting the global shift toward greener energy. NKT’s Karlskrona facility in Sweden is a cornerstone of this capability, featuring a new extrusion tower, one of the tallest in the Nordics, which lines up with the existent other two towers.
NKT´s Cologne factory is concentrating on onshore cables both for HVDC and HVAC. Located in the centre of Europe, this state-of-the-art facility will deliver cables for the German corridor projects.
By 2027, NKT will deploy a new cable-laying vessel, NKT Eleonora, designed for efficient laying of long lengths of cables, thus reducing the number of campaigns and the carbon footprint. NKT Eleonora will run on methanol and like her sister NKT Victoria, she will also be able to run on bio-fuel.
